Issue/Introduction

Symptoms

  • You have VCF licenses but are running a vSphere Foundation (VVF) 9.1 environment.

  • VCF Operations for Networks 9.1 is installed as a standalone installation using the .ova deployment method

  • You require a procedure to manage customer CS-signed certificates.

  • The standalone VCF Operations Fleet Management appliance is missing or deprecated.

Environment

  • vSphere Foundation (VVF) 9.1

  • VCF Operations for Networks 9.1

Cause

  • Due to an architectural shift in VCF 9.1, lifecycle management for Operations components is no longer executed natively through the SDDC Manager UI

  • The standalone VCF Operations Fleet Management appliance has been deprecated, and fleet lifecycle orchestration (VCF_FLEET_LCM) has been converged into VCF Operations and the containerized VCF Management Services platform.
  • VCF Operations for Networks 9.1 is intended for exclusive deployment within a VCF framework.

Resolution

VCF Operations for Networks 9.1 must be deployed through the VCF Operations Fleet Management interface within a VCF framework. Standing it up as a standalone appliance in a VVF environment is an unsupported configuration.

  1. Review the official deployment workflow in the VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1 Documentation.
  2. Verify component compatibility at Components in VCF and vSphere Foundation.
  3. Fixed in release 9.1 and higher. See Download Broadcom products and software for steps to download the supported release.
