Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The ESXi host is experiencing higher-than-expected storage read times, typically averaging 10 to 20 ms. This delay is generally caused by storage array performance constraints, snapshot overhead, or excessive I/O queue saturation.

Resolution

• Tune Aria Operations Thresholds:

  • Lower the frequency of non-critical alerts by adjusting the "Datastore has disk read latency" definition. Navigate to: UI > Operations > Configurations > Alert Definitions, then edit the specific alert.

• Verify Vendor Baselines:

  • Contact your storage vendor or storage engineering team to obtain the recommended latency baselines for your specific hardware model and configuration, ensuring your new thresholds are properly aligned.
