Issue/Introduction

  • There are thousands of inactive/canceled alerts in Aria Operations and it is intended to clean up the alerts.
  • The canceled alerts can be grouped together and deleted manually with "Delete Canceled Alert" button but only 10 alerts can be deleted in a batch and it would turn out to be a time-consuming task to clear up thousands of inactive alerts.
  • The Aria Operations cluster may suffer from performance issue with large number of alerts and alarms.

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Resolution

The "Symptoms/Alerts" option under "Data Retention" page can be adjusted to clean up alerts and symptoms that have been inactive/cancelled. The "Symptoms/Alerts" option specifies number of days to retain the cancelled alerts and symptoms after cancellation and defaults to 45 days. For more information about "Symptoms/Alerts" option, please refer to: List of Global Settings

Please be noted that the outdated alerts will not be deleted right at the moment when days specified for "Symptoms/Alerts" is shortened, instead they will be deleted during the next cleanup cycle (which is scheduled to run everyday).

Alternatively, there's an API that can be leveraged to delete inactive/canceled alerts in batch:

DELETE /api/alerts/bulk

For example the API together with below alertQuery delete all inactive/cancelled alerts once and for all:

{

        "alert-query":{

                "alertStatus":{

                       "alertStatus": "CANCELLED"

                }

        }

}
