Error: Cannot delete system default object when removing software images from AVI Load Balancer

Issue/Introduction

Customer upgraded AVI Load Balancer to version 30.2.x. After upgrade they attempted to clean up previously uploaded software images from versions 18.2.x & 20.1.x.

During the deletion process, the operation failed with the error: "Cannot delete system default object."

Environment

Version: 30.x & 22.x

 

Cause

The "Cannot delete system default object" error is caused by a bug introduced in Avi Load Balancer version 18.2.6 and the issue persisted through Avi Load Balancer version till 20.1.9 and was fixed in 21.1.1

Any AVI Load Balancer that passed through upgrade migration while running a version between 18.2.6 and 20.1.9 (inclusive) is affected with this bug.

Resolution

Please contact Broadcom Contact Support if you are unable to delete old Software images with this error
