Issue/Introduction

  • Adding a disk on VCF Operations for Log 9.0.x node(s) shows the following error in Fleet Manager and vCenter tasks: Invalid configuration for device '0'. This issue can be seen while adding a disk manually on affected VCF Operations for Logs 9.0.x nodes in vCenter.
  • esxi-host/var/run/log/vpxa logs display the exception below:
    Error - vim.VirtualMachine.reconfigure: :vim.fault.InvalidDeviceSpec

Environment

VCF Operations for Logs 9.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the administrator deletes the disk on the VCF Ops for Logs appliance. This procedure is not supported.

Resolution

This issue can be resolve by trying the steps below:

  1. Take snapshots for all nodes.

  2. Redeploy affected nodes and move the repository of logs by following the steps in KB Replace a node in an Aria Operations for Logs cluster.

  3. If the affected node is the primary, open a support ticket referencing this article 394634 in the description. Refer to Creating and managing Broadcom cases: Contact Broadcom Support.
