VCF Instance inventory fails to load in VCF Operations due to expired component passwords

Issue/Introduction

• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) instances or inventory objects (such as vCenter instances, clusters, or hosts) are not visible or fail to load in the VCF Operations UI
• Error on VCF Operations UI > VCF Instances

• The SDDC Manager UI is inaccessible, unresponsive, or remains in a spinning loading state

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.x

Cause

This issue occurs when SDDC component passwords (such as vCenter or NSX) have expired or were updated outside of the SDDC Manager workflow. The resulting mismatch between the actual passwords and the credentials stored in the SDDC Manager database prevents the SDDC Manager services from authenticating, making the SDDC UI inaccessible. Since VCF Operations is dependent on the underlying SDDC Manager API to retrieve domain and inventory details, the VCF Operations UI fails to display instance information.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, ensure all component passwords are valid and synchronized with the SDDC Manager.

Note: Take a non memory snapshot of SDDC Manager VM before implementing the recommended steps.

1. Manually update or reset the expired passwords for all affected SDDC components (e.g., vCenter Server, NSX Manager) directly on the components themselves.

2. If the SDDC Manager UI remains inaccessible after resetting passwords, restart the management services from SDDC putty
