Issue/Introduction

Log in to VCF Operations and navigate to Infrastructure Operations > Dashboards & Reports and open the Kubernetes VKS Cluster dashboard. Select a VKS Cluster (or Node or Namespace) and note that the Pods widget and Containers widget both show "The view cannot be rendered for the specified object."

  • VCF Operations 9.0.x
  • VCF Operations 9.1.0

Resolution

The Broadcom engineering team is aware of this issue and will provide a fix for it in an upcoming version. Subscribe to this KB article to be notified when the fix is released.

 

Configure the Pod and Container Monitoring Enabled setting

  1. Use the steps in Enabling Monitoring for VKS Clusters to set the value of Pod and Container Monitoring Enabled to True.

  2. Wait 10 minutes for 2 collection cycles to occur

  3. Check the Kubernetes VKS Cluster dashboard to verify data is seen in the Pods widget and the Containers widget

 

If the Pod and Container Monitoring Enabled setting reverts to False after being set to True, create an alert to identify when the issue occurs so the setting can be set back to True.

  1. Log in to VCF Operations and navigate to Infrastructure Operations > Configurations > Alert Definitions

  2. Click Add

  3. Provide a Name and Description for the alert

  4. Set the Base Object Type to 'VKS Cluster'

  5. Expand Advanced Settings

  6. Change Wait Cycle to 3 and click NEXT

  7. In the Conditions tab, expand Metrics > Summary

  8. Drag the No of Containers metric and drop it on the field labeled Drag and drop metric to specify its condition or symptom into your alert here to create a new set

  9. Click the > dropdown menu and select =

  10. Click the empty field and type 0

  11. Use the mark as dropdown menu to set the desired criticality for the alert

  12. Click NEXT

  13. Leave Recommendations empty and click NEXT

  14. Click the checkbox next to the policy(ies) that the VKS cluster objects have applied and click CREATE
