Issue/Introduction

You are following Add an SNMP Trap Plug-In for VMware Aria Operations Outbound Alerts to set up SNMP trap–based alerting for the ServiceNow Event Collector using the Aria Operations MIBs. You encountered the following error after you followed Accessing the vRealize/Aria Operations MIBs and uploaded the MIBs.

The MIME type, file extension, or file type could be invalid or unsupported. Please contact your administrator for assistance.

Resolution

Download the "VMware-mibs-9.0.1NX-24882621.zip" file attached in SNMP MIB module file download for the latest VMware MIB files for the VMware SNMP MIB Module.

Additional Information

On the Aria Operations primary node, there is a readme.txt under /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/plugins/outbound/vcops-snmptrap-plugin/mibs.

It leads to KB Determining the MIB module listing, name, and type of an SNMP OID, which then leads to the KB SNMP MIB module file download. And in this KB, it states, "For the latest VMware MIB files for the VMware SNMP MIB Module, refer to the "VMware-mibs-9.0.1NX-24882621.zip" file attached in this article."
