Issue/Introduction

• This article provides information on downloading the VMware SNMP MIB Modules.
• Loading mib files *-AGENTCAP-MIB.mib fails in 3rd party management systems.

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware Aria Operations for Networks
VMware vCenter Server
VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

AGENTCAP mib files do not convey actual APIs, only relate what VERSION of an ESXi, NSX, VCVA supports what VERSION of a MIB file (IF-MIB, VMWARE-SYSTEM-MIB, etc).

Resolution

To resolve this issue, download and extract the VMware SNMP MIB Module "VMware-mibs-8.10.0NX-24235044.zip" file attached in this article.
 

Notes:

• The latest MIB file can also be found in NSX manager: /opt/vmware/nsx-monitoring/python/nsx_monitoring/VMWARE-NSX-MIB.mib
• The MIB's are backward compatible. Download a new version that your environment supports.
• For Aria Operations for Networks, MIB support is available in version 3.4 and later.
• Do not load these files into your management system unless it supports loading AGENTCAPS mib modules.
