Issue/Introduction

  • Duplicate IP addresses are visible in the IPv4 allocation of an OrgVDC Network's IP usage page in VMware Cloud Director (VCD).
  • A specific IP address is assigned to a virtual machine under IP usage, but an additional ghost entry exists for the same IP address with no associated virtual machine details.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue occurs when you perform VM onboarding to VCD and subsequently remove certain entries directly from vSphere. This action leaves stale entries in the VCD database. Some of these stale entries correspond to VM NICs, which causes the UI to display duplicate IP addresses.

Resolution

Resolving this issue requires a direct database modification.
