This article describes uninstall methods for the Symantec Endpoint Security Agent (ESA) for macOS 16.0 using Terminal or by using the Symantec Endpoint Security Agent (ESA) for macOS 16.0 Cleanwipe tool.
Mac devices with the Symantec Endpoint Security Agent (ESA) for macOS 16.0 installed.
sudo /Applications/Endpoint\ Security\ Agent.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall--product parameter:sudo /Applications/Endpoint\ Security\ Agent.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall --product wsssudo /Applications/Endpoint\ Security\ Agent.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall --product sepIf an uninstallation password has been configured in the Symantec Endpoint Security System policy, use these parameters: --password sep --password <password>
Example:
–sudo /Applications/Endpoint\ Security\ Agent.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall --product sep --password <password>
If the --password parameters aren't used with the Terminal uninstall command, the user will be prompted for uninstall password during the uninstall process.
Example:
% sudo /Applications/Endpoint\ Security\ Agent.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall --product sep Uninstalling sep...Please enter the uninstall password:Successfully uninstalled sep.Uninstalling Endpoint Security Agent...Notifying Endpoint Security Agent for uninstallation...
Note: This Cleanwipe package only removes the version 16 agent.
