Issue/Introduction

When creating WIP Adjustments and transferring transactions from one Investment/Resource to another, at times users get errors. At times everything seems to be fine. Is there any known issue here?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. Go to Home > Financial Management > Create WIP Adjustment
  2. Provide a From Date and To Date and filter
  3. Look at returned Transactions. Note the Investment ID and Resource ID fields.
  4. Let's use PR2000 and Investment ID sample and RES0001 as Resource ID sample.
  5. On the Create WIP Adjustment filter section, Investment ID field, type in pr2000 and filter (do not use binoculars)
  6. The transactions belonging to that project are filtered down
  7. Open the Task field binoculars to select a task
  8. You get an error: REVMGR-20018:Project not found.
  9. Close the Task field selector.
  10. Add Res0001 to the Resource ID filter field and filter
  11. Select one of the transactions filtered down and click Transfer
  12. On the Transfer Transactions page just opens, you find Project, Task and Resource ID fields as mandatory
  13. Type in pr2000 as project (do not use binoculars selector)
  14. Open the Task field  binoculars (In this field you can not type in). You get error REVMGR-20018:Project not found.
  15. Select the Project and Task values using the binoculars
  16. Type in Res0001 as a Resource ID
  17. Click on Save and Return
  18. You get an error:  REVMGR-20518:Resource does not exist.

Expected results: To be able to work with WIP Adjustment creation and Transfers without errors

Actual results: You get errors at WIP Adjustment creation and Transfers

Environment

All current supported Clarity releases

Cause

The Create WIP Adjustment page is case sensitive when typing data and filtering further

Resolution

Ensure the Investment ID and Resource ID fields are typed in on the correct case: PR2000 instead of pr2000 and RES0001 instead of Res0001

Alternatively use the binoculars to ensure the selected value is as Clarity expects.

The above behavior and other usability issues have been discussed with Product Management. We are defining and analyzing a new WIP Adjustment feature in MUX, therefore the current behavior of Classic UI will not be changed.

Idea currently in place:

Need WIP Adjustments in MUX to Improve Usability and Human Error of Transaction Adjustments (D1623)

We highly recommend to attend the Product Management Office Hours and vote for the following idea, so the above mentioned feature gains traction.
