Issue/Introduction

  • On the VCF Operations UI > Fleet Management > Lifecycle > Components page, when running a precheck to upgrade a component, the precheck is failed almost immediately with this error -

One or more validations for this environment failed

Status - Failed

Check - Pre-validation

Component / Resource - Pre-validation

  • On the VCF Fleet Management appliance, while reviewing the log file - /var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrlcm.log - these entries are observed -

YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss.sssZ ERROR vrlcm[xxxxx] [pool-x-thread-xx] [c.v.v.l.c.c.ContentLeaseController] -- Error occurred while processing the content lease.
java.nio.file. FileSystemException: /data/vm-config/symlinkdir/xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx: No space left on device

  • Running the command below on the VCF Fleet Management appliance CLI shows that the /data/ partition is 100% full

df -h

Environment

VCF 9.0.1

Cause

The VCF Fleet Management appliance has a full /data/ partition.

Resolution

  • Unneeded binaries that had been previously downloaded need to be deleted in order to free up space on the VCF Fleet Management appliance.
  • Once this has been done and the prechecks are retried, it is expected that they will be able to proceed.

Additional Information

To prevent the issue going forward - expand the storage available so the partition does not run out of space, please see this article for details on doing that -
