Issue/Introduction

  • The following error was observed in the VM tasks when attempting to attach the NSX segment.
    An error occurred during host configuration: Failed to attach VIF: RPC call to NSX management plane timeout. Please check if the connectivity between Host and NSX Manager is up.. Failed to attach virtual network interface Unknown to logical switch fd######-16##-4e##-b8##-82########0b, message from NSX: RPC call to NSX management plane timeout. Please check if the connectivity between Host and NSX Manager is up.

  • Connectivity between ESXi host and the NSX manger is established.
  • However, it was observed the VM network adapter has lost the connectivity.
  • VM was connected to the NSX segment.

Environment

VMware NSX

Resolution

Kindly collect the support bundles from both the ESXi host and the NSX Manager for further analysis.

As a work around, migrate the virtual machine to another available ESXi host in the cluster.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, raise a support ticket with Broadcom support selecting NSX as the product.
