When navigating to Operations > Dashboards > Potential Cost Saving Dashboard in Aria Operations, the "Potential Savings" widget displays $0 for "Reclaimable Hosts."
When inspecting the Cluster metrics directly, the "Reclaimable Host" metric is missing or unavailable.
This issue only affects vCenter Servers that are integrated into Aria Operations via the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Management Pack.
Standalone vCenter Servers added through the native vCenter Management Pack function normally and display the correct cost savings.
Aria Operations 8.x
VCF Operations 9.x
vCenter Servers integrated through the VCF Management Pack are classified by Aria Operations as "Hybrid Cloud" environments. Due to this specific classification, the analytics engine does not natively calculate or expose the "Reclaimable Host" metric for these clusters, resulting in a $0 value on the dashboard.
This is a known issue affecting Aria Operations 8.x and VCF Operations 9.x. Broadcom is aware of this issue, and a permanent fix is scheduled for inclusion in one of the upcoming releases. Subscribe to the article to receive updates on this issue
As a temporary workaround, you can import a custom Super Metric into Aria Operations. This Super Metric is designed to calculate the cost for Reclaimable Hosts on Cluster objects manually.
Steps to Implement the Workaround:
Download the Super Metric file attached to this KB article.
Log in to Aria Operations as an Administrator.
Navigate to Operation->Configuration > Super Metrics.
Import the downloaded Super Metric file. For detailed instructions on the import process, please refer to the official documentation: Exporting and Importing a Super Metric.
Once successfully imported, select and edit the imported Super Metric.
(Note: Please allow 1 to 2 collection cycles, typically 10–15 minutes, for the new Super Metric to calculate the costs)
