HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error After App Control Server Upgrade

Issue/Introduction

• After upgrading the App Control server trying to access the page fails with 500 error
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Console\php\php-cgi.exe - The FastCGI process exited unexpectedly
• Application Error Event ID 1000 with a Faulting Module Name may appear (Confirm if faulting file has a newer or older creation date from other modified files)

Environment

• App Control Server: All Supported Versions

Cause

The most recent version of the files may not have been laid down during install if  the App Control Agent didn't have Tamper Protection disabled and wasn't in Local Approval Mode

Resolution

• Reinstall the App Control Server software
• Restore from backup and upgrade again making sure Tamper Protection is Disabled and the Agent is in Local Approval mode
