Issue/Introduction
Steps for completing an uninstall and reinstall of the App Control Server software.
Environment
App Control Server: All Supported Versions
Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions
Resolution
Backup all critical components.
DAS database full backup
Agent Communication Certificate
(with Private Key)
IIS Certificate
(if different than the Communication Certificate)
App Control Server installer for the currently installed version.
If an Agent is installed on the application server, from the Console
Disable Tamper Protection
Move the Agent to Local Approval
For other security software, make sure
Server Exclusions
are in place
Log in to the application server hosting the Console as the Carbon Black Service Account.
Uninstall the App Control Server software from Add/Remove Programs
Run the App Control Server install as the Carbon Black Service Account
When prompted, choose "Use Existing Database"
When prompted, use the Certificates stored in the database
If issues are encountered, specify the Communication Certificate that was backed up.
Continue the process as outlined in
Tech Docs
> Server > Server Installation Guide > Installing the Server with a Restored or Reconnected Database.
Verify the ability to log in to the Console and that Agents are connecting.
