Issue/Introduction

  • Adding a node to VCF operations through Fleet Management is stuck on Components
  • Warning in the UI shows
A Could not find the current component certificate. Use Fleet Management → Certificates to either add or replace the
    component certificate.

Taking a snapshot is not required when adding a Cloud Proxy to an existing VCF Operations cluster. However, it is
recommended when adding Replica, Data nodes. The snapshot operation will take the cluster offline, nodes will be
powered off and then powered back on.
  • The option to select certificate is greyed out
  • Upgraded Aria Operations from 8.18.x to VCF operations 9.x
  • Replaced the VCF operations certificate as per documentation Replace a Certificate with a CA-Signed Certificate but the certificate was not in use in Fleet Management for the VCF operations component

Environment

VCF operations 9.x

Fleet Management 9.x

Resolution

Note:  Prior to applying below steps please take VCF operations snapshots as per documentation Create a Snapshot Before You Upgrade VCF Operations and Fleet Management snapshots as per KB How to create a snapshot for VCF Operations Fleet Manager appliance
  1. Enable Fleet Management UI by opening ssh session to Fleet Management as root and running the command:
    touch /var/lib/vrlcm/UI_ENABLED
  2. Navigate to Lifecycle → Clicked on 3 dots and click Replace Certificate  → Select the certificate you generated as a replacement certificate
  3. Trigger an inventory sync for VCF Operations component
  4. The option to select the certificate is now available when you try again to add a Cloud Proxy as per documentation Add Nodes to VCF Operations
  5. Disable Fleet Management UI by opening ssh session to Fleet Management as root and running the command:
    rm /var/lib/vrlcm/UI_ENABLED
