Issue/Introduction

After licensing the SMG it has been noticed that spam definitons have not been updated, resulted spam definitions state that cannot be updated for a long period, over 2000 days as below:

Checking the SMG logs following events can be found:

  1. ERROR - curl: (56) Peer does not recognize and trust the CA that issued your certificate.
  2. Network error occurred, Peer does not recognize and trust the CA that issued your certificate. (56), check your network connection settings, check your proxy settings (if applicable), and check to ensure that port 443 (HTTPS) is open through any relevant firewalls.

Cause

License has been registered using offline method instead on-line.

Resolution

There is no way to update spam definitons when license has been populated using off-line method as technically it is not intended for anti-spam filtering.

Offline registration should only be done on a system that is not connected to the internet, is not intended for anti-spam filtering, and does not need to download anti-spam rules or software updates.
