Issue/Introduction

Deploy a new VCF9 with an existing vCenter as the management domain

During the installation VCF9 with an existing vCenter, the Pre-check failed with the errors below

The vCenter Server virtual machine is not connected to a distributed virtual port group or the dvpg has an association with non management traffic type for vcenter_fqdn. Please ensure the vCenter Server virtual machine is connected to a distributed virtual port group (dvpg) and the dvpg is not associated with non-management traffic type.

The vCenter VM The vCenter is col-located within the cluster it manages

Environment

VCF 9.0.1

Cause

For the DVS port group used by vCenter, there is another port group within the vCenter (including Datacenter/Cluster) having the same port group name.

In such situation, the pre-check is unable to confirm the vCenter VM's port group, leading to the per-check failed.

Resolution

- Find out the duplicated port group and rename it with new name, then retry the validation task.

- Create a SR to VMware by Broadcom for further investigation.
