Issue/Introduction

  • The NSX native load balancer is small.
  • The NSX Edge that the load balancer is running on is Large or X-Large.
  • All load balancer objects are in green and success states.
  • The load balancer is configured to perform SSL termination.
  • When accessing the VCD cell web page through the NSX native L7 load balancer, the user log-in page loads and log-in is successful. The UI page does not fully load, displaying a blue loading circle in the main frame like the example below.

Environment

VMware NSX

VMware Cloud Director

Cause

The issue is related to SSL decryption and encryption that occurs when the load balancer is performing SSL termination and which is a CPU-intensive process.

Resolution

Workaround:

  • Configuring the load balancer for SSL passthrough so it is not required to decrypt and encrypt the SSL traffic, which will allow the full VCD UI to load.

Additional Information

If SSL termination is required, try increasing the size of the load balancer to medium or large to provide it access to additional CPU resources to perform the SSL decryption and encryption.
