Issue/Introduction

  • During the deployment of a new virtual machine, datastore validation fails and displays the following compatibility warning:

"http://localhost:1080/sdk invocation failed with "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset"

  • Additionally, when attempting to log in to the vCenter UI, the following error appears:

"An error occurred while fetching identity providers. Please try again later. If problem persists, contact your administrator."

  • The following checks show normal status:

    • All certificates are valid

    • Service status appears healthy

    • df -h shows sufficient disk space

    • STS report shows healthy status

Environment

VMware vCenter 8.x

Cause

The most likely cause of this issue is intermittent network connectivity, which can lead to connection reset errors during datastore validation and UI authentication requests.

Resolution

Reboot the vCenter Server, verify services and datastore accessibility, retry the VM deployment, and if the issue persists, raise a support case with Broadcom.
