Issue/Introduction

vRops shows the below error message regarding NSX:

There are no outstanding errors in the logs that would lead you to believe that there is anything amiss with the managers.

However, when you check running services, some mangers show SNMP is running/enabled, and some show that SNMP is disabled.

Environment

vRops

NSX 4.x

Cause

At some point, the SNMP services were manually disabled on one or more managers.

Resolution

Re-enable the SNMP services and start them from the NSX GUI:

  1. Log in to NSX Manager UI → System → Profiles → Node Profiles.

  2. Under SNMP polling, click Add SNMP Profile.

  3. Delete the older SNMP profile from version SNMP v2c
  4. Select SNMP v3, then set:

    • Username

    • Auth password

    • Priv password

  5. Save, then assign the profile to target nodes/edges.

  6. Commit changes.

See KB 410486 for more info on how to enable SNMP.
