Convert a VMware Live Recovery Subscription to a Standalone Site Recovery Manager License for On-premises Disaster Recovery

Issue/Introduction

If your VMware Live Recovery subscription expires, you can change it to a standalone Site Recovery Manager subscription for on-premises disaster recovery by performing the tasks mentioned in this article

Note: One part of converting your VMware Live Recovery subscription to a standalone Site recovery Manager license requires some configuration changes on each VMware Live Site Recovery server, which must be done by Broadcom Support. Contact Broadcom Support for assistance with the last part of this task.

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Resolution

To convert a VMware Live Recovery subscription to a standalone Site Recovery Manager License for on-premises disaster recovery:

  1. Log in to the Broadcom Support Portal with your registered user credentials.
  2. Under Services > My Services, click the 'Launch service' link on the VMware Live Recovery tile.
  3. From the left navigation, select Deployments.
  4. If you used VMware Live Site Recovery in connected mode:
    1. Find the tile of the site pair that you want to deactivate, and from the Actions menu select Deactivate Live Recovery.
    2. In the deactivation dialog box, confirm that you understand the implications of deactivating the site pair, and then click Deactivate.
  5. If you used VMware Live Site Recovery with an offline license, you must log into VMware Live Site Recovery and you must disconnect the pair from VMware Live Recovery by following these instructions: Remove the offline mode license for VMware Live Site Recovery.
  6. Last, there are some final configuration changes required on each server of the pair. Contact Broadcom Support to assist you with these final steps.
  7. After you have performed these steps, you can get the Site Recovery Manager license key from the Broadcom Support Portal.
  8. After you copy and save the offline license key, install the license key in your VMware Site Recovery environment to start using the software.
