ESXi host having stale DVS and host is not getting added to actual DVS and failing with 'Operation Failed' error

Issue/Introduction

- When adding a ESXi host to a DVS we can see the error: Operation Failed:

ESXi host having stale DVS and host is not getting added to actual DVS and failing with 'Operation Failed' error:

Cannot complete a vSphere Distributed Switch operation for one or more host members

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

Stale DVS entry on the ESXi host caused the new VDS not get added to the host

Resolution

Open a support case and Contact Broadcom support  to remove the stale DVS entry.
