Issue/Introduction

When attempting to delete an Organization VDC network in VMware Cloud Director, the operation fails with the following error message:
Network <Network_Name> cannot be deleted, because it is used by the following vApp Networks: <vApp_Network_Name>

This issue occurs even when there are no deployed vApps currently using the target Organization VDC network.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue is caused by a vApp template residing in a Catalog that is still referencing the target vApp network.

Although there are no deployed vApp instances, the template retains the network configuration dependency, which blocks the deletion of the network.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, remove the vApp template that has a dependency on the network.

  1. Identify the vApp template causing the conflict from the error message <vApp_Network_Name>.
  2. Navigate to the Content Hub > Catalogs > <Catalog_name> > vApp Templates section.
  3. Delete the identified vApp template.
Note: If you need to retain the template, deploy the template as a vApp, remove the specific network from the vApp configuration, and then capture it as a new template.
  4. Retry deleting the Organization VDC network.
