Upgrading from Aria Operations 8.18.0 to 8.18.5 from VRSLCM fails

Issue/Introduction

• Upgrading Aria Operations to 8.18.5 via Aria Lifecycle manager fails on multiple attempts.
• The 'vmware_vrlcm.log' in the directory '/var/log/vrlcm/' may contain the following error;

  • Received DOWNLOAD_PENDING as download status for cloud proxy xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx
    
    Download is still pending for cloud proxy  xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

• One or more of the cloud proxies may show an 'Outdated life status' status in the Aria Operations admin UI.

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The cloud proxy/proxies with the 'Outdated Life Statius' prevents Lifecycle manager from proceeding with the upgrade.

Resolution

There are 3 steps to be be taken to complete the upgrade.

• Manually upgrade the all cloud proxies that have not already been upgraded.
  • Manually upgrade an Aria Operations Cloud Proxy via CLI
• Conduct the upgrade of Aria Operations via the admin UI
  • Install a software upgrade
• Trigger an inventory sync for the Aria Operations environment in Aria Lifecycle Manager
  • Trigger Inventory sync

Please note, snapshots should be taken of the cluster before any upgrade action.
