Messaging Gateway

Issue/Introduction

You have used an installation image of Messaging Gateway version 10.9.1 for upgrade from an older version using the command line. The installation process did not reboot the appliance, and manual reboot results in a failure to load after installation.

Environment

version 10.9.1

Cause

If the upgrade version specification for the 10.9.1 installation is incorrect (it should be: --version 10.9.1-3), the Messaging Gateway may enter an unbootable state.

The installation process includes a pre-installation step as part of the base OS upgrade. While this pre-installation may complete even with the incorrect version, the system will then be unable to locate the actual installation image. This critical failure requires a complete OS Restore reinstallation to recover the Messaging Gateway.

Resolution

When installing 10.9.1 from an older version using the command line, be sure the upgrade command is entered correctly:

update --version 10.9.1-3 install
