ITMS 8.7.x - In Hierarchy setup, administrators are unable to Delete Resources (no Delete option on Right click)

Issue/Introduction

In case of Hierarchy or resources being imported to SMP server - the Users and Administrators would not be able to delete those resources.

 

Environment

ITMS 8.7.1 and higher

Cause

By default, Administrator role on Parent SMP is unable to delete replicated resource from Child SMP (having other than current SMP as owner)

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue:

• For 8.7.1 version apply Pointfix rollup from KB 273903 - for Symantec Management Platform (SMP). And add new Core Setting as specified below
• For 8.7.2 and higher just add new Core Setting as specified below

To Add new Core Setting named "HierarchyManagedEntityAllowances":

Navigate through Console, Settings > Notification Server > Core Settings:

Select Add new Core Setting and specify name as "HierarchyManagedEntityAllowances"

With Value set to "1" will make hierarchy-managed entities deletable on the machine, where core setting is changed.

It would allow On Parent to delete replicated computers from Child SMP
And same setting added On Child would allow to delete replicated from Parent SMP: SW resources, MD or Patch policies, Jobs and tasks, filters.

Deleting this Core Setting or changing this value to "0" - would revert the changes.
