Issue/Introduction

When creating a New Workload Domain Using VCF Operations it fails to auto populate vCenter Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

The following error is observed in the resource-aggregator.log on the SDDC Manager.

/var/log/vmware/vcf/operationsmanager/resource-aggregator.log

YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS.612+0000 ERROR [vcf_om,692dea#########ed5a6f27c########,2###] [c.v.v.r.s.u.v.c.ManagedResourceMetricsCacheHelper,ra-exec-3] Failed to fetch resource metrics from vCenter ##########.######.###
> java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Patch level can't be null

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.X

Cause

  • The vCenter Server IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway, are populated based on the FQDN and SDDC Manager details.
  • Here SDDC manager failed to auto populate vCenter Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.
  • The import failed because the vCenter's configuration for one or more ESXi hosts does not include the necessary patch level setting (config.product.patchLevel) or HCX Mobility Agent ESXi Host (virtual appliance) in the management WLD vCenter.
