vSphere HA host alert while host is Disconnected or failing to synchronize

Issue/Introduction

Host shows HA error.

Host shows "Cannot synchronize host" alert.

Host is Disconnected.

 

Environment

ESXi 8.x

ESXi 7.x

Cause

Hosts are disconnected because the vpxuser account password (an internal account that is managed by vCenter) was rotated but the host and vCenter database are out of sync.  

Resolution

1. Disable HA.
2. Follow KB Host Summary page reports "Cannot synchronize host" or "Quick stats on <Hostname> is not up-to-date" to reconnect the host(s).
3. Enable HA.
