SRM: Protection groups remain Not Configured due to insufficient licenses

Issue/Introduction

Replication synchronization completes with a status of OK, but the Protection Status of the protection group remains Not Configured, and virtual machines are not displayed in the recovery plan.

When selecting Protection Groups > Actions > Configure Protection, the following error message appears:

There are not enough licenses installed to perform the operation.

Environment

VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.x

Cause

The SRM license is insufficient or has expired.
If licenses are insufficient, the protection status of the protection group cannot be configured.

Resolution

Assign a valid SRM license at the protected site to cover the number of virtual machines that require protection.
Reduce license usage by removing or deleting unnecessary protection groups.

Check the expiration date and license capacity in vCenter > Menu > Administration > Licensing, and verify that the SRM solution has a valid license assigned under Assets > Solutions.

If the evaluation license has expired or licenses are missing, register a valid license and reconfigure the protection.
