Issue/Introduction

After changes were applied to the physical network, VMs in NSX segments lost north-south (N-S) connectivity.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

Recent physical network changes affected the Host TEP subnet used for tunnel connectivity between the NSX Edge and ESXi hosts.

Resolution

Engage with the physical network team to review recent network changes that could impact the Host TEP subnet.

Verify whether the changes could have affected overlay connectivity and NSX tunnels. Once the cause is confirmed, take appropriate corrective actions in collaboration with the network team to restore north-south connectivity for affected VMs.

For guidance on validating NSX tunnel and overlay network connectivity, see Troubleshooting NSX Network Connectivity Issues.
