Issue/Introduction

  • A large number of NSX logical switches are found remaining in the environment after the corresponding vCD vApps were deleted.
  • Review of the NSX Manager database confirms the identified logical switches have no associated segments or logical ports. This validates that the entries are stale and not in active use.

Below are sample logs indicating stale logical switches :

    syslog:<Date> <Manager-fqdn> NSX ###3 SWITCHING [nsx@###6 comp="nsx-manager" level="WARNING" reqId="#####e25-6##1-4##2-####-c#####0c##9c" subcomp="manager" username="<username>"] Could not find effective UPM profiles for [LogicalSwitch/a####7b6-e#3c-4##a-b###-9de1#####e8b, LogicalSwitch/c#####45-###f-4##3-a#f4-8a####bd9##a

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Datacenter

Cause

The stale logical switches were left behind due to incomplete cleanup of logical switch entries during vApp deletion operations in older NSX-vCD integrations.

Resolution
