Issue/Introduction

vCert report shows the Machine SSL certificate with a "Key Usage" alert.

Environment

vCenter 7.x

vCenter 8.x

Cause

The Machine certificate is misconfigured, the certificate is missing key values. 

Resolution

  1. Take a powered off snapshot of the vCenter (if the vCenter is linked then take a powered off snapshot of all linked vCenters/PSCs).
  2. Follow KB and use vCert to replace the Machine certificate and restart services.

NOTE: If the vCenter is using vCenter HA (VCHA) please Remove vCenter HA before taking snapshots.  See documentation Remove a vCenter HA Configuration.
