Log ingestion configuration fails in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

When configuring the Log Ingestion feature within VMware Cloud Director, an error is received.

• ERROR - Unable to establish connection: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused (Connection refused)

This occurs specifically when using Active Directory as the authentication provider.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

The username that is used to configure the feature must exist in VMware Aria Operations for Logs and have the 'View Only Admin' privilege.

Resolution

Add the Active Directory user to VMware Aria Operations for Logs and assign it to a role with 'View Only Admin' privileges as outlined in the KB below;
