Issue/Introduction

  • During an attempt to upgrade a VMware vCenter Server via SDDC Manager, users encountered errors related to repository configuration.
  • lcm-debug.log:

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x
VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x

Cause

  • As public facing repository URLs and authentication mechanisms are changing, download URLs are no longer common but unique to you.
Login to VC VAMI UI (https://vcenter_server_fqdn/IP:5480) > Update > SETTINGS

  • Download URLs need to be re-configured.

Resolution

Resolution:

  1. Access the VAMI: Log in to the vCenter Server Appliance Management Interface (VAMI) by visiting https://<vcenter-IP-or-FQDN>:5480
  2. Navigate to Settings: In the VAMI, go to the Update tab and click on Settings.
  3. Select Custom Repository: Choose the option to Use Specified Repository.
  4. Enter the URL: Provide the URL of your custom local web server repository. And Save Changes and Check for Updates: Click Save, then click Check Updates to verify the new configuration:
    Specified:
    https://dl.broadcom.com/<downloadToken>/PROD/COMP/VCENTER/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/<current_version>/

  5. Restart the vCenter upgrade from the SDDC Manager UI.

Additional Information
