Issue/Introduction

You receive the error message "Merge is not allowed" in the support portal when trying to merge VMware license keys, it indicates that the keys do not meet the required merging criteria.

Environment

Support portal

Resolution

To successfully merge VMware license keys in the Broadcom support portal, ensure the following conditions are met:

  • Product, Version, and Edition Consistency: Only license keys for the exact same product, version, and edition can be merged.
For example, you cannot merge a vSphere 8.0 Standard license with a vSphere 8.0 Enterprise Plus license.

  • Matching Contract End-Dates for Subscription Licenses: If you are attempting to merge Termed/Subscription Licenses, their contract end-dates must match perfectly. Even a single day's difference will prevent the merge. For questions about your support contract end dates, please contact your Sales representative.

  • Perpetual and Subscription Licenses: Perpetual license keys cannot be merged with Termed/Subscription license keys.
