Issue/Introduction

Patch 10.9.1-297 for Messaging Gateway is available for download and installation.

This patch addresses the following issues:

  • Users on some virtual KVM platforms do not have a valid network configuation.
  • Users on VMware and some other platforms are unable to use the second NIC.
  • Notifications for user's quarantined messages are not delivering.
  • International characters become garbled after upgrading to 10.9.1.
  • CLI help/man pages display raw terminal escape sequences.

Environment

SMG 10.9.1

Resolution

The patch may be installed from the command line as follows:

  1. Log into the SMG command line as admin
  2. Run:

    patch -p 10.9.1-297 install

Installing the patch using a local web server using the localinstall option

  1. Place the patch ISO on a Web server that is reachable from the Symantec Messaging Gateway server(s).
  2. Log in to the CLI (either through the console, or via SSH) as 'admin'.
  3. Install the patch using the following command string:

     patch localinstall http://hostname/path/to/sms-appliance-patch-10.9.1-297.iso

  4. Repeat the above steps for each Control Centre and each standalone Quarantine server in the deployment.
