Clarification on the upgrade of Cloud Proxy

Issue/Introduction

1. You need to update Aria Operations Cloud Proxy to 8.18.4 along with Aria Operations itself.

2. You found Updating a VMware Aria Operations Cloud Proxy to the Latest Version, but it's not clear in the document which upgrade path you should take.

3. The order of upgrade between Aria Operations and Cloud proxy is unclear. You need confirmation and guidance on these.

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Resolution

1. Note: Cloud Proxy will be upgraded automatically together with Aria Operations when applying the following upgrade PAK file.

2. Before upgrading, it's highly recommended and a best practice that you take snapshots of all nodes and the cloud proxies by following Snapshot Creation in VMware Aria Operations.

3. Then follow Using the Pre-Upgrade Readiness Assessment Tool for VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x.

4. To upgrade Aria Operations along with Cloud Proxy to 8.18.4, please follow Installing and Upgrading VMware Aria Operations in the release notes. Start with Upgrade, Backup and Restore, as mentioned, download the upgrade PAK file that includes the Cloud Proxy from the Broadcom Support Portal. 

5. Then upgrade by following Install a Software Update.

Additional Information

Note: Only follow Updating a VMware Aria Operations Cloud Proxy to the Latest Version when the Cloud Proxies fail to update themselves automatically after the appliance upgrade.
