VCF Operations/Automation (formerly VMware Aria Suite)

Issue/Introduction

  • You are upgrading Aria Automation via LCM and the precheck indicates that the Disk size needs to be increased on the Hard Disk noted in the precheck results.
  • You attempt to add disk space to the appliance in vCenter, but the Hard Disk size setting is greyed out.

Environment

Aria Automation 8.x
Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.x

Cause

There are snapshots on the appliance(s) which prevent editing the disk

Resolution

The appliance does not need to be powered off, but the VM cannot have snapshots.

  1. Remove any snapshots on the Aria Automation Appliance(s) in vCenter:
    vCenter 7 Delete a Snapshot
    vCenter 8 Delete a Snapshot
  2. Proceed with increasing the disk size for the required disk:
Increase VMware Aria Automation appliance disk space
Note: Steps for increasing the disk size in vCenter can be found under the "For ESXi 6.5 or later" section here: Increasing the disk size on a Virtual Machine.
  3. After the disk size has been increased appropriately, snapshots can be taken for the Aria Automation appliance(s) again, before starting the upgrade.
