VCF Operations/Automation (formerly VMware Aria Suite)

Issue/Introduction

  • Offboarded or unregistered VM does not appear in the Discovered list for re-onboarding. Even after the VM is unregistered and deleted from Aria Automation, it is still available under managed.

Service Broker >> Consume >> Virtual Machine >> Managed

  • Offboarded VM is missing from both the Managed and Discovered sections of the Service Broker UI, making the Resource ID inaccessible via standard UI.
  • Cloud account data collection completes successfully, but the VM status remains unchanged.

Environment

VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

A stale entry remains in the dep_resource table of the Catalog database. The origin field for the VM record is still set to DEPLOYED or MANAGED, which prevents the system from recognizing it as a DISCOVERED resource available for onboarding.

Resolution

The resolution involves updating the database records. Please reach out to Broadcom Technical Support and reference this KB article: "Re-onboarding the VM fails because it is either missing or still listed as "Managed" in Aria Automation"
