VMware vSphere Foundation VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to assign a VMware vSphere Foundation license from VCF-Ops to vCenter, the operation fails with the error:
To assign this license, you must have an allocated capacity of 64 cores

  • In the VCF-Ops UI, the license shows “allocated capacity is 0 cores,” even though the license is valid and shows allocated cores in VCF Business Services

Environment

VMware vSphere Foundation 9.0

VCF Ops 9.0

Cause

The license start date in the Broadcom Support Portal was set to a future date. This prevented the license from becoming active, causing VCF-Ops to report 0 allocated cores and blocking license assignment to vCenter.

Resolution

Update the license start date in the Broadcom Support Portal to the current date. Once updated, the license becomes active, the allocated capacity is reflected correctly in VCF-Ops, and the license can be assigned to vCenter.
