Issue/Introduction

  • NSX Manager UI reports an alarm about high prefix-list usage, or above capacity.
  • You have created less prefix-lists than the usage reported in the alarm.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

Each Tier-0 router and VRF are assigned instances of system-default prefix-lists in addition to user-created prefix-list.
Therefore, these system-default prefix-lists may significantly contribute to the capacity usage accounting.

Resolution

This is a condition that may occur in a VMware NSX environment.

The system-default prefix-lists cannot be deleted.
If the number of Tier-0 routers and VRFs remain under the documented limits, you can ignore or suppress the alarm about prefix-lists usage.

To suppress the alarm as a workaround:

  • Navigate to Alarms > Alarms Definition.
  • Select the alarm you want to suppress(based on severity : Medium, High Critical).
  • Click the 3 dots.
  • Click Edit.
  • Slide the "Enable Detection" slider to the left(Disable).
  • Alternatively, you can change the status of a specific alarm instance to ACKNOWLEDGED.
