Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • When trying to Edit  Storage I/O control congestion threshold on any datastore in the datastore cluster  from percentage of peak throughput to manual this error is displayed in the vsphere client UI in VC :

Error : Datastore is not accessible. "No connected and accessible host is attached to this datastore."

  • The datastore is part of a datastore cluster and can be placed into maintenance mode.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

The issue can be  caused by a disconnected host in vCenter. Since vCenter may route datastore modification tasks through any host, selecting a disconnected host results in task failure due to lack of access.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, either remove the disconnected host from vCenter if it is no longer in use, or restore its connectivity so it can access the shared datastores.
