Issue/Introduction

  • The upgrade of Aria Operations for Networks (AON) from version 6.11 to 6.13 fails with the following error when accessing the platform UI:

Environment

Aria Operations for Networks

Cause

From the chef-run.log on the affected platform, the following error was observed, indicating that a required Debian package emacsen-common_3.0.4_all.deb file is missing.

Resolution

  1. SSH into the Aria Operations for Networks (vRNI) affected platform appliance/collector appliance using the support user account.

  2. Important: Ensure you take a vCenter snapshot of the platform VM before proceeding. Refer to the following KB for snapshot best practices: Best Practices to Backup/Snapshot Aria Operations for Networks

  3. Upload the required Debian package file in this case emacsen-common_3.0.4_all.deb (attached below) to the /support/home directory on the platform VM using a tool like WinSCP.

  4. Navigate to the home directory by running:

    cd /support/home
  5. Install the missing packages by executing the following command:

    sudo dpkg -i <package-name>.deb

    Note:
Replace <package-name>.deb with the actual file names of the .deb packages.

    Example

    sudo dpkg -i emacsen-common_3.0.4_all.deb
