vCenter VM goes unresponsive when FP.iso is attached through ESXi Host UI

Issue/Introduction

• Attaching the FP.iso to the vCenter VM fails because the standard installer ISO is already mounted, preventing the initiation of the vCenter VM patching process.
• The vCenter VM goes unresponsive.

Environment

• VMware vCenter Server 7.x
• VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

VMware by Broadcom does not recommend mounting any other ISO apart from the FP.iso ISO file on the vCenter VM.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, please follow the steps :

• Power off the vCenter VM. 
• Detach the installer ISO from the CD/ROM in the VM edit settings.
• Download the patch ISO image(FP.iso) from https://support.broadcom.com/web/ecx
• Refer to Instructions to find Product Downloads, OEM custom images, Patches and Addons in the Broadcom Support Portal (366685)
• Once the FP.iso is downloaded, mount it on the vCenter VM via CD/ROM in edit settings.
• Continue with the vCenter patching.
