Error: "Connection closed by remote user", Auto-discovery and manual import failed in VCD after the VM migration was canceled mid-process.

Issue/Introduction

• The task was cancelled by the user, and the connection was closed by the remote host—possibly due to a timeout. The operation failed with a warning indicating a data error: "The task was cancelled by the user. vMotion migration [Id] failed to read stream keepalive. connection closed by the remote host. possibly due to the timeout". 
• Observed the datacenter group status as “busy” with no further manageability.
• Stale entries for the datacenter group remained in the VMware Cloud Director database.

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

A stale database entry remained from a previously discovered instance of the VM whose movement was aborted midway.

Resolution

• Take snapshot of the VCD cells.
• Backup the VCD database before making any changes.
• The stale VM  entries have to be removed from the VCD database.
• Contact Broadcom Support and note this Article ID (401177) and  the problem description.
