Issue/Introduction

In Aria Operations, a scheduled snapshot deletion automation job appears as "Completed" in Operations > Automation Central > History, but the task does not actually execute.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

  • This behavior is observed when data collection fails for the affected virtual machines or the corresponding vCenter.

  • If the vCenter integration is in a Warning state, validating the vCenter adapter may show errors such as:

    • "Wait for response of task 'Test connection' timed out for collector 'vRealize Operations Manager Collector-<Collector name>'"

    • "Error trying to establish the connection."

Resolution

  • Ensure there is active data collection for the impacted VMs or vCenter.
  • Additionally, verify that the vCenter integration is functioning correctly. Refer to the following KB articles to troubleshoot collection issues:

vCenter accounts are in Warning state due to "Certificate Validation Failed" and "Unable to connect to VC" errors
