Issue/Introduction

  • Provide guidance or recommendations to address the "vCenter Collection" issue.
  • vCenter integration is in Warning state and when we Edit the vCenter adapter and click on Validate Connection, we see one of the following error messages:
    • Wait for response of task 'Test connection' is timed out for collector 'vRealize Operations Manager Collector-Collector name'
    • Error trying to establish the connection.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations 8.x
Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

  • vCenter SSL Certificates were not available in Aria Operations.
  • Port 443 is not open between all the Aria Operations nodes and the vCenter.

Resolution

  • Ensure that Port 443 is enabled bi-directionally between Aria Operations and vCenter. (Test connectivity using curl -v telnet://<IP Address>:443 command)
  • Change Collector node for vCenter to Replica or other Node and the Test Connection should be successful.
  • When testing the connection accept any SSL Certificate that is offered.
